Craggy Range restaurant for Cuisine magazine

I recently photographed an assignment for Cuisine Magazine at Craggy Range Restaurant, spending a full day immersed in the rhythm of the place.

The shoot involved styling and photographing chef Casey McDonald’s artfully crafted food, the expansive and beautifully tended vegetable garden, and the passionate people working behind the scenes who bring the restaurant to its vibrant life. Being there for the entire day was special as it allowed me to understand the rhythm of the day and see how people work and bring food from the garden to your plate.

These are the kinds of assignments I love most. While there are clear editorial parameters to work within, there is also space for curiosity, observation, and creative interpretation. I really enjoy collaborating closely with the people involved—listening to how they see their work and their business, and translating that perspective into images. The challenge, and the reward, is creating photographs that sit comfortably within Cuisine’s editorial vision while still allowing my own visual voice to come through. That balance between collaboration, structure, and creative freedom is what makes projects like this so satisfying for me.
